I know that I am a heterosexual man, but as of recently I am having to ask myself whether it could be that I am also a homophobe?
The reason for this is the following: Several weeks ago on a front page post here on dailykos.com, I saw an article about gay rights and a picture of two men kissing each other.
That picture actually caused a sensation of sickness in my stomach!
I felt truly disgusted by that scene of those two male marines kissing each other!
It was such an ugly sight to me, I ended up placing my hands in front of the screen so I wouldn't have to glimpse on it!
Of course, I turned into lurking mode and checked the commentary reaction to the post and the picture: And I saw nothing but comments about how beautiful that scene was!
Beautiful!
And here was I, getting physically sick from looking at that same scene of two men kissing each other. I could not see any beauty in that scene, it was a repugnant depiction to me.
Now, I should say that I do support equal marriage rights for homosexuals and lesbians. I am certainly not opposed to homosexuality as a lifestyle: every man and woman has the right to live the life he or she wants and love the way they want... as long as I don't ever have to experience these homosexual experiences myself.
Because, frankly, I would rather die than have a fellow man kiss me, there is no bigger turn off for me than the prospect of being kissed by a fellow phallus carrier!
So:
Am I a homophobe?
Or am I just an extremely heterosexual man, who has a natural aversion of scenes of two men kissing each other!
